Description
Magnificent mongolia is a 12-day photography workshop designed to ignite your creativity and elevate your portfolio in one of ASIA's most remote areas.
Mongolia is a stunning place to experience a thousand years old culture, photograph epic desert landscapes in the heart of Gobi Desert, experience famous hospitality of local people.
The first part of our Mongolian adventure is devoted to the Southern Mongolia, where the most famous Gobi sands lay. This is a land of canyons, deserts, beautiful mountains and ancient culture. We meet and photograph locals, have sessions with camel herders crossing sands. We have private sessions organized just for us with 2 Bactrian camels, and visit most amazing places of Southern Mongolia. We stay in traditional Ger camps and photograph not only landscapes – it’s a great mix of nature cultural experience.
Besides Gobi we organize a very special event in West Mongolia. Every year Eagle Hunters festival takes place in Mongolia. But we decided not to be in the crowd but bring our own little festival to just a private group of 6-10 photographers.
Moreover, after a private festival we visit the most stunning mountain locations with 3-10 eagle hunters to make beautiful photos of Western Mongolia. It’ll be a trip where you can mix a cultural experience, portrait and genre photography plus practice in landscape.
Mongolia is the land of wild beauty and untouched nature.
We travel by specially prepared Toyota Land cruisers with local drivers, (3 persons per one car) live in hotels or Ger camps with 3 meals.
You can buy cellphone SIM cards with local provider MOBICOM for use internet date and communication.

Daily Itinerary

Day 1 – Friday, 21st August
Arrival in Ulaanbaatar • Meet & Greet • Welcome Dinner
Welcome to Mongolia! Upon your arrival at Chinggis Khan Airport our friendly guides will be there to meet you and transfer you to our comfortable hotel in Uaanbaatar. With a refreshing pool and on-site restaurant, it’s the perfect place to relax and settle in. In the late afternoon, we’ll come together for a relaxed Welcome Reception. Bring your camera, we’ll go over essential settings and share a few tips to get you ready for the unique locations and lighting conditions you’ll encounter throughout the trip. It’s also a moment to reflect on your personal goals for this workshop: What would you love to capture? What story do you want your photos to tell? As the sun sets, we’ll sit down for a delicious group dinner, a chance to connect with your fellow photographers, chat with your guides, and soak in the excitement of what’s to come. The journey is just beginning! This evening we will also meet our local guide. Photo Focus: Gear readiness, mindset setting, and connection.

Day 2 – Saturday, 22nd August
“Khongor” Sand Dune • Sunset Shoot
After breakfast, we’ll take a local flight to Dalanzadgad, the gateway to the Gobi Desert. Upon arrival, our local drivers will meet us at the airport, and we’ll drive directly to the Khongor Sand Dunes. Accommodation will be at the comfortable “Gobi Erdene” tourist camp, featuring cozy wooden houses with heating and electricity provided by a generator. Depending on travel time, we may be able to enjoy our first photography session in the Khongor Sand Dunes at sunset. Overnight at the tourist camp. (B, L, D) In August, average night temperatures range from +10 to +15°C, while daytime temperatures are around +22 to +25°C.

Day 3 – Sunday, 23th August
“Khongor” Sund Dune • Sunrise Shoot
We rise early for a sunrise photography session among the magnificent Khongor Sand Dunes — a breathtaking expanse stretching more than 40 kilometers across the desert. Known as one of Mongolia’s most stunning and vast dune systems, this is a place where silence, space, and light create pure magic. Awaiting us are local camel herders and their camels, ready to be part of an unforgettable portrait and model shoot amid the rolling sands. As the first rays of sunlight sweep across the Gobi, the endless curves of the dunes and the distant mountains glow in soft pink hues — a sight that stirs the soul. Later in the day, we’ll return to capture the golden beauty of sunset and, as darkness falls, photograph the star-filled desert sky. Overnight stay at the same Ger camp. (B, L, D)

Day 4 – Monday, 24th August
Secret Sunrise • Editing • Bayan Zag (Flaming Cliffs)
Rise before dawn to capture the magic of sunrise over the vast Khongor Sand Dunes — a truly unforgettable scene as the first light dances across the golden sands. After breakfast, we’ll set out toward Bayanzag, the legendary Flaming Cliffs, arriving in the afternoon. This dramatic landscape is not only breathtaking but also steeped in history — it’s here that the very first dinosaur eggs were unearthed, along with fossils of Velociraptors and ancient mammals. As the sun sinks low, we’ll photograph the cliffs from stunning panoramic viewpoints, watching them ignite in fiery shades of red and orange. Tonight, we stay at a comfortable tourist camp with showers and electricity — our home amid the timeless beauty of the desert. (B, L, D)

Day 5 – Tuesday, 25th August
Tsagaan Suvarga • White Stupa
After breakfast, we set off in our comfortable 4x4 Toyota Land Cruisers, heading south through Mongolia’s boundless steppe — an ocean of grass stretching endlessly to the horizon. The journey takes around 4–5 hours, with ever-changing views that capture the vast spirit of the country. By midday, we arrive at Tsagaan Suvarga, a breathtaking natural wonder also known as the White Stupa. This dramatic cliff formation rises 35 meters high and stretches for nearly 400 meters. Once the floor of an ancient sea, the layers of sediment reveal a kaleidoscope of colors — each hue telling a story from millions of years ago. As the day fades, we’ll witness the sunset casting warm, golden light over this surreal landscape — a truly mesmerizing scene for photography. Overnight at Caravanserai Resort, a comfortable tourist camp offering full meals and modern facilities.

Day 6 – Wednesday, 26th August
Baga Gazar Chuluu Rocky mountain
We rise early to capture the beauty of sunrise before setting out, after breakfast, toward Baga Gazriin Chuluu — also known as Rock Valley, one of the Nine Wonders of Mongolia’s Middle Gobi province. Here, towering granite formations soar to 1,751 meters, creating a surreal, moonlike landscape that has captivated travelers for generations. Scattered among the rocks lie the remains of ancient temples and sacred sites, dating back to the 17th century. The area is also known for its crystal deposits, mineral-rich stones, and a natural spring that locals consider to have healing properties. As the sun dips low, we settle into our cozy Ger camp “Erdenei Uaa”, surrounded by the timeless silence of the Gobi. Overnight stay in the camp.

Day 7 – Thursday, 27th August
Ulaanbaatar
As dawn breaks, we begin our journey back to Ulaanbaatar, crossing the vast open steppe one last time. The familiar rhythm of the road offers a moment to reflect on the incredible landscapes and experiences of the Gobi — from golden dunes to ancient cliffs and sacred mountains. Upon arrival in the city, we settle into the comfortable Khubilai Hotel. Enjoy a well-deserved rest and a deep, peaceful sleep after our unforgettable adventure across Mongolia’s wild heart.

Day 8 – Friday, 28th August
Ulgii • Altai mountains
This morning, we take a scenic two-hour flight (around 6:00–8:00 a.m., time to be announced) from Ulaanbaatar to Ulgii, a remote town nestled in western Mongolia. After lunch, we journey toward one of the most spectacular regions of the country — the foothills of the Altai Mountains. Here, we’ll meet three Kazakh eagle hunters for an exclusive private photo session. The backdrop is nothing short of epic: the sacred Tsambagarav Mountain rising majestically to 4,208 meters, with rugged rocky ridges on one side and snow-capped peaks on the other — a full 360° panorama of wild beauty. As the sun sets over the Altai, we’ll capture the golden light embracing both hunter and eagle, a timeless symbol of Mongolian tradition. Overnight stay in a simple but comfortable local hotel with showers, Wi-Fi, and warm hospitality — the perfect place to rest, recharge, and prepare for the next day’s adventures. (B, L, D)

Day 9 – Saturday, 29th August
Ulgii • Altai mountains
This morning, we skip the sunrise session and allow ourselves a well-deserved rest — because today is truly special. We’ll experience a private mini Eagle Festival, arranged exclusively for our group. Imagine Kazakh horsemen galloping across the vast landscape, dressed in their traditional dark coats and crimson hats, with majestic Golden Eagles poised proudly on their arms. This intimate event, organized by locals devoted to preserving Kazakh heritage, offers a rare opportunity to witness and photograph this ancient tradition up close. You’ll have the chance to interact with the eagle hunters, pose with their birds, and even let a Golden Eagle rest on your arm — an unforgettable connection with Mongolia’s living history. Unlike the crowded public festival, this private version is designed purely for photographers, giving us the freedom to capture breathtaking portraits and action shots without distraction. We’ll photograph up to five eagle hunters across a variety of striking locations — from dramatic mountain ridges to winding rivers and shimmering marshlands, where splashes and reflections bring every frame to life. Each of the eagle hunters will be ready and eager for private portrait sessions, welcoming us with genuine warmth and hospitality. Surrounded by their powerful birds and the grandeur of the Altai landscape, you’ll feel as if you’ve stepped straight onto a movie set — every frame a masterpiece waiting to be captured. By the end of this extraordinary day, you’ll return with memory cards filled with stunning images — dramatic portraits, soaring eagles, and authentic moments free from the crowds. As the sun sets, we drive back to Ölgii (about 1–1.5 hours) and settle once more into our comfortable hotel, complete with showers and Wi-Fi — the perfect place to unwind and relive the day’s unforgettable experiences. (B, L, D)

Day 10 – Sunday, 30th August
Ulgii • Altai mountains
We begin the day at a relaxed pace, enjoying a traditional morning of rest and reflection. After lunch in the town of Ölgii, we set out on a short one-hour drive along a smooth, scenic road to the breathtaking Tolbo Lake — a deep blue gem framed by rugged mountains and panoramic rocky viewpoints. This afternoon, we’ll meet one of our eagle hunters once more for a final golden-hour session. With the vast lake and dramatic landscape as our stage, we’ll capture unforgettable images — a lone figure silhouetted against the sunset, or a powerful portrait bathed in the last warm rays of light. Overnight stay at a comfortable hotel in Ölgii, with showers and Wi-Fi. (B, L, D)

Day 11 – Monday, 31st August
Ulaanbaatar • Khubilai Hotel
After breakfast, we transfer to the airport for our flight back to Ulaanbaatar — a scenic two-hour journey across the endless Mongolian skies. Upon arrival, we return to the Khubilai Hotel, checking in around early afternoon (1–2 p.m.). The rest of the day is free to relax, unwind, and reflect on the incredible experiences of the past days. Take time to back up your photographs — from the powerful eagles of the Altai to the vast dunes and sacred cliffs of the Gobi — and relive each unforgettable moment. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel. (B, L, D)

Day 12 – Tuesday, 1st September
Ulaanbaatar • Airport
After breakfast, it’s time to say farewell to Mongolia. Our drivers will transfer you to the airport for your flight home. As you depart, you’ll carry with you not only thousands of photographs, but also vivid memories — the vast silence of the desert, the golden light on the dunes, the proud gaze of the eagle hunters, and the spirit of adventure that defines this extraordinary land. Safe travels — until we meet again under the wide Mongolian sky.
